If you attended school in Vinton in the 70s, you know that the highlight of the year happened when the Old Creamery Theatre came to school. You knew that it was going to be funny, and that there would be laughs.

Another victim of the pandemic is the Old Creamery Theatre. The longest-running professional theater company will be closing its doors. Because of the financial impact that the pandemic has had on the theatre company, they have had to close.

The theatre group has been performing and bringing entertainment to Iowa since 1971 when it began in Garrison, just passing its 50th year. The group later moved to the Amana Colonies in 1988.

The theatre has been closed for 18 months out of the last two years. The business reported that there was little to no revenue during that time, but expenses continued.
