FIVE DAYS ONLY
Our “sort of” Oscar month continues with “Black Swan,” playing Sunday, March 20 and through Thursday, March 24 at 7 p.m. nightly, on Monday, March 21 at 2 p.m.
Rated R for strong sexual content, violent images, language and drug use, “Black Swan” is definitely for adults only. Check out kids-in-mind.com for details on the graphic sex scenes in this movie.
Natalie Portman won the Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Nina, a ballet dancer who is so intent on landing the role of the Swan Queen that she finds herself in a world where her imagination takes control, with violent results. She goes crazy.
Winona Ryder plays a rival ballerina, Barbara Hershey, Nina’s mother, and Vincent Cassel is Thomas Leroy, head of the Lincoln Center ballet company, notorious for having affairs with his dancers.
My 23-year-old daughter Erin praised this movie – “It was a great movie. An amazingly real portrayal of the ballet world. It’s all about obsession. Once she finally realizes her dream she can’t handle it. “
Erin also mentioned that the sex scenes “might be a little weird for some people.”
Hope you find time to catch ACT I on stage this weekend and see the final big screen offering in our “sort of” Oscar month.
