“The Dilemma” opens Friday, February 25 through Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. nightly, and Monday, February 28 at 2 p.m.

Here’s what I’ve learned about this PG-13 film. Kids-in-mind.com gives it pretty high scores in all categories, which is not good news for your impressionable youth. While watching this movie may be fine, even great, for you – your kids will receive a hearty dose of sex, language and violent action.

However, we do hope our adult and teen crowd attends in full force!

Another tidbit I picked up from the critics – “The Dilemma” is a very good movie, but maybe not the full-out comedy you are expecting.

Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, well known and well loved (by me, anyway - I adore Vince Vaughn!) for their hilarious on-screen antics, spread their wings and showcase their dramatic appeal.

I know I’m intrigued.  Vince Vaughn has a serious side.  Very cool.

MARCH

Watch the calendar carefully.  ACT I presents “Picnic,” which means crazy movie schedule.  Three days only: “The King’s Speech.” Sunday through Thursday: “Just Go With It” and “Black Swan.” Last full week of March: “Gnomeo and Juliet.”

VINTON-SHELLSBURG SPEECH NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Vinton-Shellsburg High School Speech Department will once again host the Iowa High School Speech Association’s State Individual Events Contest on Saturday, March 12.  Approximately 1,200 performers from southeast Iowa will participate in this event.  Performances in 14 different events and multiple rooms at both the high school and middle school will call for many volunteers to help as timers, room chairs and greeters.  Help is needed in morning or afternoon sessions – any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.  Please contact Eric Upmeyer (436-4728 x 9334) eupmeyer@vinton-shellsburg.k12.ia.us or Marcy Horst (472-5518) marcy@horstbt.com if you can volunteer your time.  Thank you!
