ACT I of Benton County Announces Auditions for 13 by Jason Robert Brown April 24 and 25 at 2:00 pm in the ACT I Studio above Clingman Pharmacy; 106 East 4th Street, Vinton. Needed: Seven boys and six girls between the ages of 12 and 16, (including an African-American male); all must be able to pass for 13 years old. The only all-teen musical to ever run on Broadway comes to Benton County August 6 – 15, 2010, produced by ACT I and performed at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School auditorium. This will be one of the first productions of the show in the Midwest and possibly the first in Iowa. Auditions will be held April 24 and 25, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the ACT I Studio above Clingman Pharmacy in Vinton. 13 is a fast-paced, edgy look at being thirteen years old, as seen through the eyes of Evan Goldman, a Jewish boy from New York City who must move to Indiana with his mother following his parents’ divorce. The story is funny and bittersweet, told with a dynamite rock and roll score featuring over twenty musical numbers. We are looking for an energetic and talented cast who can sing , dance, and act, bringing this vibrant show to life on our stage. Thirteen performers are needed (seven boys and six girls) and auditions are open to anyone between the ages of 12 and 16. Auditioners must be able to pass for 13 years old and all boys must sing in at least the tenor range or higher. The Broadway cast album of 13 is available from Amazon.com or can be downloaded from the iTunes Store. Please e-mail ACTIpresents13@yahoo.com for more information and to download a PDF file containing audition materials.
