THE STACK IS BACK
Our main feature this week is “Little Fockers,” rated PG-13 for mature sexual themes throughout and bad language. Stiller, DeNiro, Streisand, Pacino, Wilson and the whole extended Focker gang reprise their roles from “Meet the Parents” and “Meet the Fockers.”
This third in the (can I say “focked up?”) series promises constant gags and laugh after laugh (or maybe groan after groan!?) for all 98 minutes of running time.
“Little Fockers” plays the Palace Friday, February 11 through Thursday, February 17 at 7 p.m. nightly, and Monday, February 14 at 2 p.m.
THREE DAYS ONLY: 'FIGHTER'
The Palace is getting a jump on Oscar Month this weekend, with “The Fighter” playing Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12 at 9 p.m., and Sunday, February 13 at 2 p.m.
Rated R for language, drug content, violence and sex , this 114-minute critic’s choice is not for the faint of heart, or your children.
“The Fighter,” the true story of “Irish” boxer Micky Ward, stars Mark Wahlberg as Micky, and Christian Bale as his loser crack head brother, Dicky. Bale recently earned the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role award at both the Screen Actors Guild awards and the Golden Globes. His co-star, Melissa Leo, took home the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role statue at both shows.
“The Fighter” garnered six Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Directing (David O. Russell), Best Supporting Actor (Christian Bale), Best Supporting Actress (Melissa Leo and Amy Adams), Best Film Editing, and Best Original Screen Play.
The critics certainly like this movie, and big numbers at the box office prevented us from getting it in January. Let me know how YOU like it.
Spend $4 and catch two great films – only at the Palace Theatre in Vinton, Iowa!
ANOTHER NOTE FROM A TRUE GRIT FAN
"The difference I saw was the eye patch was on Wayne's left eye and on Bridges right eye. It would be very difficult for Bridges to shoot his six gun from the right side while using the left eye. ~G
RECYCLING 3D GLASSES
Thanks to the many patrons I’ve noticed helping our staff remind other movie-goers to recycle their 3D glasses. Special thanks to the local elementary teacher who actually confiscated a pair from one of her students and returned them so we could recycle them! Wow!
WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR GLASSES
RealD established a recycling program for its disposable glasses in November 2008 and has collection containers in each theater with a RealD screen. When containers are full, we send them via UPS to a recycling center, where the glasses are cleaned using heat and other cleaning agents, checked manually and by machine for quality assurance, and then individually repackaged.
Remember, as long as we keep sending your used glasses back to RealD so they can be recycled, our theatre will not be charged for the glasses, which means we will not charge you for your glasses. The Palace will remain the Only $3 3D in the World – if you continue to do your part!
Tune in next week when I tackle the question – will these RealD 3D glasses work with my new 3D television at home?
See you at both movies! Don’t forget your $2/per! And remember – FREE POPCORN EVERY MONDAY IN FEBRUARY!
