A transformed relationship with Bart Millard, the lead singer of MercyMe and his father inspired the song which is now the most-played radio single in Christian music history. The song was released in 1999 on MercyMe's album, The Worship Project. This story shows that no one is too far from God's love or too far from an eternal home in heaven.
