They're cute. They're cuddly. You just want to snuggle them, love them, and be with them all the time. Wait... am I talking about babies, or puppies??
Playing Friday, May 5 through Thursday, May 11 at 7 pm, Saturday, May 6 at 4 pm, and Monday, May 8 at 2 pm, is the new Dreamworks film The Boss Baby. It's no secret that babies everywhere are having to compete with puppies for love and attention. Determined to write this wrong, the Boss Baby (Alec Baldwin) infiltrates the unassuming Templeton family- Mom (Lisa Kudrow), Dad (Jimmy Kimmel), and seven-year-old Tim (Tobey Maguire). The Templetons work for Puppy Co, a company that puts as many puppies in forever families as possible. Because of their careers, they are the ideal family to go undercover with. Although his new "parents" are lovingly ignorant of the mental capabilities of their Boss Baby, brother Tim is not fooled. Tim was happy being an only child, and when he hears Boss Baby speak, that's the last straw. While Boss Baby is on a quest to increase baby love everywhere, Tim is on a quest to get rid of Boss Baby for good. It's sibling rivalry at it's finest, except the stakes are much larger than usual! When word of the Boss Baby's plan reaches the Puppy Co. founder (Steve Buscemi), he'll stop at nothing to thwart his plan, even if that means the Boss Baby losing his adult thinking skills, becoming a "normal baby" for good.
The Boss Baby is loosely based on the children's book of the same name, written by Marla Frazee. Frazee explores the relationship between parents and babies- how even though the parents are in charge, their lives still revolve around their "boss babies." Exploring the metaphor even further, one could say that some bosses are like babies, right?
The Boss Baby is rated PG and is a 3D film. It will be shown in 2D on Tuesday and Sunday evening.
