A drum stick tossed into the crowd at a Bellamy Brothers concert a few years ago has led to a friendship between a local woman and a member of the band.
“I’ve been a Bellamy Brothers fan since I was five years old,” says Sherri Kavalier of Brandon.
In 2010, Kavalier attended the Bellamy Brothers concert at the Linn County Fair. The drummer tossed his drum sticks into the crowd; Kavalier caught one.
After that show, she approached the drummer, Rockey Marvel, and asked for an autograph.
“We have been friends ever since,” says Kavalier. “He is a great guy.”
In addition to taking lots of photos with the friends who attended the concert with her – Michelle and Melinda Hunter, Jessica Ramey, Tony Chaney Chad Albert – Kavalier also received an invitation from Rockey Marvel to have a photograph with Howard and David Bellamy.
The drumstick, she says, is still in her home, right next to the TV.
During the concert, Kavalier and some friends squeezed in close for a selfie, with the band in the backgroun. The photo we took of that selfie is accompanied by the actual photo they took.
