Although Terry Ehlinger said he is not a "die-hard" Bellamy Brothers fan, the duo's performance at the first-ever Benton County CountryFest is an event he has hoped to see in the area for a long time.

"I have always thought we should do something like this, but I didnt' have the expertise," said Ehlinger on Saturday, during a promotion for the event in the Ehlinger's Express convenience store parking lot. Ehlinger said as soon as he heard about the event, he called Kevin Schlarbaum to ask what he could do. The business became one of the lead sponsors of the June 6 concert.

JT Promotions is the company that Schlarbaum and his friend, Keith Lindsey started. "JT" represents the letters of the men's wives Teresa Lindsey and Jackie Schlarbaum.

Teresa Lindsey said the group is excited but a bit anxious, hoping for great sales and great weather.

During Saturday's event, Ehlinger's offered free burgers from the Benton County Cattlemen and a few lucky visitors received free tickets from Katheryn Foxx of 96.5 FM (Kiss Country) of Cedar Rapids. She will be the MC of the concert, which also includes performance by the Nashbillies as well as a Redneck Girl Contest. "Redneck Girl" is one of the Bellamy Brothers' hits from 1982.
