Entertainment : \'3 Billy Goats Gruff:\' Elementary students learn about opera

Elementary students laugh during an opera performance of '3 Billy Goats Gruff' on Tuesday.

Tilford and Shellsburg Elementary students learned about opera through a unique version of the childhood book "The Three Billy Goats Gruff," Tuesday in the Tilford auditorium. A troupe from the Des Moines Opera which includes Abigail Rethwisch, the daughter of Vinton native Ellen Martin, performed the story of the three goats and the troll which tried to keep them from crossing the bridge. The story ends differently than the famous book, and focuses on teaching friendship and understanding.
