Entertainment : In Depth: The Judge gives way to December variety at Palace

The Palace Theatre has enjoyed good crowds for our November run of grown-up movies, including “Gone Girl,” rated R, starring Ben Affleck, which plays through Thursday, November 20. Tickets are already selling for “The Judge,” with Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall, which opens Friday.

DECEMBER

We anticipate GREAT crowds in our future. Our December line-up came in over the weekend! You’ll want to add these blockbuster hits to your busy holiday schedule.

The Palace opens the day after Thanksgiving, November 28, with “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.” We hope to accommodate our younger patrons with added 4 pm matinees on Friday and Saturday, as well as 7 pm shows Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Palace will then close for four days as ACT I of Benton County takes the stage with “Dear Edwina,” a delightful one hour musical for the whole family, featuring several talented area youth actors.

“Dear Edwina” opens Friday, December 5 through Sunday, December 7, at 7 pm Friday and Saturday, and 2 pm Saturday and Sunday. Tickets may be purchased through ACT I, at www.act1.org.

The silver screen lights up again on Sunday, December 7 for six more showings of “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” including Sunday through Thursday, December 11 at 7 pm, and Monday, December 6 at 2 pm.

On Friday, December 12, Melissa McCarthy and Bill Murray team up in “St. Vincent,” which will play our regular schedule all week.

“Interstellar,” starring Matthew McConaughy, runs Friday, December 19 through Tuesday, December 23 at 7 pm, with 2 pm matinees on Monday, December 22 and Wednesday, December 24.

The Palace will be closed in the evening on Christmas Eve and all of Christmas Day.

“Big Hero 6” plays Friday, December 26 through Thursday, January 1 at 7 pm, with added 4 pm matinees on Friday, Saturday, and Wednesday, and added 2 pm matinees on Sunday and Monday.

Our first movie of 2015 will be “Mockingjay, Part One,” the third installment in the “Hunger Games” series.
