Entertainment : VSHS Drama Dept. rehearsing for 'Oz'

Vinton-Shellsburg High School Drama Dept will present The Wizard of Oz on November 7 and 8 at 7 pm, and November 9 at 2 pm, in the VSHS Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door.

Under the direction of Marcy and Gerald Horst, the high school cast includes Caleb Kruckenberg as Scarecrow, Daniel Janssen as Tinman, Logan Murray as Lion, Lily Horst as Dorothy, Abby Scheel as Wicked Witch, Celia Turner as Glinda, Muriel Glynn as Auntie Em, Kyle Jorgensen as Uncle Henry, and Jordan Schoettmer as the Wizard, as well as several Oz Chorus Members, and 16 Middle School Munchkins.

VSHS band director, Nick Waymire, is organizing some of his top band members with several volunteer community musicians. This collaboration includes clarinet players Barb Glime, Kendra Peterson, Lindsey Miller, flutist Judy Trygstad, bass player Caleb Bendull, pianist Lori Ferguson, Stephen Schmidt on drum set, Sam Schmidt on guitar (playing harp parts), and trombone player Jonah-Paul Blix. ​Mark your calendars now!
