The talented and elegant Academy Award-winning actress, Helen Mirren, graces the Palace silver screen this weekend in “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” playing Friday, September 19 through Thursday, September 25 at 7 pm, and Monday, September 22 at 2 pm.
Madame Mallory (Mirren), a gifted French chef and restaurant owner, goes to culinary war with Papa, portrayed by Indian acting legend Om Puri, whose family wanders into Mallory’s village and sets up shop, in a big, boisterous and bold way, across the road.
We love foody films in America (Chocolat, Julie & Julia, Ratatouille), and this dramatic, romantic comedy is no exception. Palace volunteers will be serving the usual gourmet fare – pop, popcorn, Skittles – or try one of our new coffee flavors!
“The Hundred-Foot Journey” is rated PG and should be perfectly mild for the kids, but perhaps won’t interest them. How about a Date Night or Girls Night Out?
OCTOBER
Next month we offer several for the kiddos, including “When the Game Stands Tall,” “Dolphin Tale 2,” and “The Box Trolls.” Adults and Older Kids Only movies – “Expendables 3” and, for Halloween, “Dracula Untold.”
I did not make any requests for October, but am thinking we may need an R-rated month in November. Your thoughts on “The Equalizer,” “The Judge,” “Gone Girl?“
