The Vinton Palace brings you “Son of God” Friday, April 11 through Thursday, April 17 at 7 pm, and Monday, April 14 at 2 pm.
We’ve had several requests for this film, which chronicles the life of Christ. Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado portrays the role of Jesus, from his humble birth through his teachings, crucifixion and ultimate resurrection.
With this offering, “Noah,” and “God’s Not Dead,” God and the Holy Scripture are cinematic front-runners at the box office this spring. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the critics panned “Son of God” and “God’s Not Dead,” but the people loved those films. “Noah” received an opposite response.
In fact, two of Gerald’s co-workers who saw “Noah” got into a knock down drag out last week about biblical translation. One of my best friends called to report she and her husband had seen it and really didn’t know what to think. If the characters had different names, they may have actually enjoyed the show.
Not sure if the other two movies will make our schedule next month, but I think it’s important to remember that this is Hollywood. If you want to learn about God, pick up your Bible or go to church. If you want to be entertained, come to the movie!
