In 1944, a middle-aged group of men and a few women interrupted their lives as historians, art curators, professors, and architects to become the Monuments Men. This small corps of unlikely soldiers recovered countless works of art stolen by Hitler and the Nazis.
“The Monuments Men” plays the Palace Friday, April 4 through Thursday, April 10 at 7 pm, and Monday, April 7 at 2 pm.
Based on Robert Edsel’s book of the same name, this star-studded movie, directed by and featuring George Clooney, is reminiscent of my dad’s old war film favorites, classics like “Bridge on the River Kwai” and “The Great Escape.”
Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, and Cate Blanchett are just a few of the big names Clooney employs to capture this forgotten piece of history. Rated PG-13 for war drama violence, “The Monuments Men” runs 118 minutes.
