4th STREET DINER NEWS 4th Street Diner HACAP North Benton Center 202 East Fourth St Vinton, IA 52349 319-472-4761 Serving Buffet from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. A choice of salads is available on the buffet. Everyone is WELCOME! Suggested contribution for individuals 60 years old or older, and their spouse (regardless of age) is $2.75 for the meal. Individuals who are not yet 60 are WELCOME but need to pay $3.75 for their meal. Carryout meals are available. We deliver meals to Vinton, Newhall, Urbana, and Garrison/Mt Auburn. The suggested contribution is $3.00/meal if you are 60 or older. We also have nutritious frozen meals and liquid supplements. Delivery is throughout Benton County. Please call 319-472-4761 for more information about services or to reserve a table for groups of 3c or more. Each month the 4th St Diner has a special day set aside to celebrate birthdays for that month. It is always scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month. Anyone having a birthday for that particular month is encouraged to make a reservation for themselves and any guests they would like to celebrate with. The names of all birthday celebrants who have made a reservation for the Birthday Table are entered into the door prize drawing. We currently have two door prizes scheduled for each month. The first is $5 in Vinton Unlimited Value Dollars generously donated by Vinton Unlimited. The second is a gift certificate for a free 4th Street Diner meal. Reservations for the Birthday Dinner table can be made by calling 472-4761. Reservations need to be made by 10:00 AM on the day of the celebration. The meal on Sunday, March 25th, will be Roast Turkey, Mashed Potatoes/Gravy, Broccoli, Mixed Green Salad, Blushing Pears, Cake, WW Bread, Milk. On Monday, February 20th, the afternoon activity was a Pepper Card. There were 5 tables of players. Clete Friedman won 1st place with 325points. Annie Hopkins won 2nd place with 280 points. Geri Shaffer won 3rd place with 270 points. After cards, Irene Geiger brought ice cream bars to celebrate her 90th birthday. Refreshments were served by the card club and HACAP provided the beverages. On Tuesday, February 21st, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Maureen Haisman was the volunteer caller and Dora Vogt handpicked the games. Game one was Wild Number Three Bingos with Marion Isabell winning. Game two was Two Hardway Bingos with Greta Geiken winning. Game three was a 9-Pack with Greta Geiken winning. Game four was a Layer Cake with Elsie Knaack winning. Elsie Knaack won game five by winning Blackout. On Wednesday, February 22nd, the activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Wendy Pennington was the volunteer caller and Clete Friedman handpicked the games. Game one was Stair Steps with Hazel Eastwood as the winner. Game two was Wild Number Three Bingos with George Eckhart as the winner. Game three was a Flag with Phyllis Ebert as the winner. Game four was a 9-Pack with Hazel Eastwood winning. Hazel Eastwood won game five with Blackout. On Thursday, February 23rd, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Norma Ellis was the volunteer caller. The games were handpicked by June Salerno. Game one was the Letter “X” with George Eckhart winning. Game two was Wild Number Three Bingos with Hazel Eastwood winning. Game three was a Postage Stamp with George Eckhart winning. Game four was a 9-Pack with Elsie Knaack winning. Clete Friedman won game five with Blackout. On Friday, February 24th, the afternoon activity was a 500 Card Party. There were 6 tables of players. Milton Smith won 1st place with 3,640 points. Dora Vogt won 2nd place with 3,180 points. Edna Schutt won 3rd place with 2,970 points. After the games, refreshments were provided by the Card Club and beverages were provided by HACAP. On Monday, February 27th, the afternoon activity was a Pepper Card Party. There were 3 tables of Pepper played. Clete Friedman won 1st place with 260 points. Geri Shaffer won 2nd place with 255 points. Bud Barr won 3rd place with 229 points. After the games, Hazel Eastwood brought cookies to share. Other refreshments were provided by the Card Club and beverages were provided by HACAP. On Tuesday, February 28th, the afternoon musical entertainment was provided by Bob Hauser. On Wednesday, February 29th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. The volunteer caller was Wendy Pennington. Elsie Knaack handpicked the games. Game one was Frame the Free Spot and Four Corners with Orville Ellingson winning. Game two was a 9-Pack with JoAnn Roster as the winner. Game three was Four Postage Stamps with Orville Ellingson winning. Game four was a Plus Sign with Geri Shaffer winning. George Eckhart won game five with Blackout. On Thursday, March 1st, Larry Holst provided the afternoon musical entertainment. On Friday, March 2nd, games of 500 were played. Bill Milne won 1st place with 2,590 points. Second Place went to Marion Witt with 1,820 points. Dora Vogt won third place with 1,160 points. After the games, refreshments were provided by the Card Club. Beverages were provided by HACAP.
