The Humboldt County Extension Office will host a Fertilizer and Finance workshop on Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at their location, 727 Sumner Ave, Humboldt.

The workshop will be led by Eric Weuve, farm business management specialist, and Angie Rieck-Hinz, extension field agronomist. Both are with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

"The goal of this workshop is to allocate fertilizer dollars where you need to maximize crop production," said Rieck-Hinz. "We will focus on phosphorus, potassium and lime inputs, and producers are encouraged to bring their most recent soil tests to use in this workshop."

According to Rieck-Hinz, fertilizer prices are up, partially due to tariffs, and crop prices are lower. This workshop will take a broad look at the cost of fertilizer inputs, trends and current soil fertility levels. Following the workshop, attendees will be able to create their own fertility plan to best manage their finances.

The cost to attend is $50, which includes printed materials and refreshments. Participants must register by Aug. 25.

In addition, Certified Crop Advisors can earn two nutrient management (NM) continuing education credits for attending this meeting.

Please contact the Humboldt County Extension Office at 515-332-2201 to register and arrange for the payment of the workshop fee.
