The Virginia Gay Hospital Health Care Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of a new board member, Marleen Patterson. Patterson has been an Atkins resident for the last thirty years. She and husband, David, have two sons and are pleased that both of them have chosen to stay in Atkins and raise their own families.

"I’ve always loved art," says June Stein, one of the newer participants in the Vinton Unlimited Holiday Open House. "I use to draw in my younger years." Now, June is creating a different kind of art: Metal art made from recycled items. The shop of her rural Vinton home is now also the home of Unique Metal Artwork.

Hello, my name is Gabriel Smith and I am a new chiropractor at Betterton Chiropractic. I grew up nearby in Dike and later attended the University of Northern Iowa where I received a degree in Biology. When I started at UNI, I knew I wanted to serve people from a health field, so I shadowed many different health related professions to figure out which one was right for me.

Iowa to Host First Midwest Organic Pork Conference

This will be the first conference ever organized in the United States dedicated to presenting the best resources and information available to help expand opportunities for organic and natural pork production and distribution.

The New Michael & Dowd Building Taking Shape

I remember the evening of the downtown fire. Thinking that those old buildings were tough, they were brick, it wouldn't be too bad...and then we all watched in horror as the fire continued to spread. So while we all see the gaps left in the downtown, it does a heart good to drive by the same spot and see the progress on the site.

Casey's now open at New Location 4th St. and K Ave.

 Now open at it's new location, Casey's General Store is up and running on the corner of 4th St. and K Ave. Today was it's first day of business, Thursday, September 27th. The old location is now closed.
