CIVIL WAR REENACTORS

Experience the flavor of the Civil War era through:

• an authentic Civil War Encampment open to the public

• authentic uniforms, dresses, tents and personal camp items

• small battles/skirmishes

• cannon, rifle and drill demonstrations, using only non-live round black powder

• scheduled camp tours

• parade participation

• displays and demonstrations

Saturday, August 17

9-5 (and perhaps longer if people are still there) - displays and interaction.

10:00 - Drill and musket demonstration/ kid drill

10:30 - cannon demo

11:00 - O.J.Fargo presentation-“Life of an Iowan Soldier”-interactive-please ask questions-sponsored by:

11:30 – Ladies style show

12:30 - cannon demo

2:00 (1:30-3:00 with prep) participate in parade – can fire muskets

4:00-5:00 - camp tour, a woman will be searching for her husband in camp, each tent will have a story

Sunday, August 18

9-4 - displays and interaction

11:00 - drill and musket demo and/or kid drill

12:00 - cannon demo

1:30 - skirmish - followed by musket fire--Any local people who would like to participate be on site by 11:30, with very faded blue jeans, white shirt and leather shoes (your uniform) to get training and outfitted.

2:30 - medical demo

3:00-3:30 - cannon demo

How does one sign up for the civil war re-enactment? I hope that it won't be too late since I won't be back in town until the 13th.
