Third time hopefully a charm at Benton County Speedway
Already saturated grounds and a stormy Sunday forecast have forced officials at Benton County Speedway to postpone the season-opening Spring Thunder special a second time. The event was originally scheduled for April 30 and again on May 7, but both were pushed back due to weather. The new date to get the season started is next Sunday, May 14, which was originally scheduled as a night off for Mother’s Day.
Vinton Shellsburg Cross Country Camp 2023
For children entering 4th-8th grade, there will be a Vinton Shellsburg Cross Country Camp. The camp will be held at the High School Monday-Thursday, June 12-15, 2023 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.Our goal for our four-day camp is to introduce the sport of Cross Country in a fun way involving high school students and our own coaching staff. We will discuss flexibility, strength, nutrition, hydration and many other topics that will help our student athletes in many ways other than Cross Country.

With a less than ideal Sunday weather forecast, officials at Benton County Speedway have postponed the season opening Spring Thunder special to May 7.The event will still serve as the first stop for the inaugural season of the Pro Late Model Series.In addition, Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds will vie for a $1,250 winner’s share and qualifying eligibility for this year’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.
Lil Racer Car Club will be OPEN for business this Sunday
The Lil Racer Car Club will be OPEN for business this Sunday at the Benton County Speedway “The Bullring” on a limited basis. With Crew Chief Mitch leaving on vacation (yes, we know, WHO ever schedules vacation during racing season?) we will start club registration on Sunday, May 21, but we will still be giving away racing flags, coloring pictures AND colors -for trophies of course, and have on sale our safety supplies- our safety glasses, goggles, earplugs, AND earmuffs.
