UPDATED: As of noon on Thursday, the store is still not open for business.It might look like the store is open today (Wednesday) but it's not. According to a note on the front door, Family Dollar, and Dollar Tree will be opening their doors tomorrow for business. The store is located at 906 South K Ave. in Vinton (across from Dollar Fresh...I'm thinking we have enough stores with "Dollar" in the name!).

USDA-supported Program Connects 59 Veterans to Careers in Iowa Agriculture

A veteran helping to unload corn Veterans continue to learn more about agricultural careers in IowaA three-year project that sought to connect veterans with agricultural careers and food systems recently wrapped up its initiative, connecting 59 veterans to agricultural careers and reaching more than 1,300 veterans with educational programming.The “Enhancing Agricultural Opportunities for Military Veterans Program” began in September of 2020, with funding from the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

The Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) maintains its commitment to fighting food insecurity by supporting local food pantries across the state with the Pork in the Pantry program. Iowa's Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program Board approves 74 grants to fuel retailers in 38 countiesThe Iowa Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program (RFIP) Board approved 74 project applications totaling more than $3.4 million in cost-share funding for Iowa fuel retailers during its quarterly board meeting last week. 73 ethanol cost-share projects were awarded, an all-time record for one quarter, which will lead to the installation of new ethanol infrastructure to increase Iowans’ access to lower cost, cleaner burning E15.
