William J. "Bill" Fleck

William J. "Bill" Fleck, 78, of La Porte City, died Friday, March 8, 2024, at his home.He was born January 25, 1946, in Waterloo, son of William C. "Bill" and Dorothy M. (Holland) Fleck. He graduated from La Porte City High School in 1964 and served in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. He married Dianne Mohr (Rager) January 22, 1966; they later divorced.

Carol Jean (Howe) Mahurin

Carol Jean (Howe) Mahurin went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 10, 2024.Carol was born on her grandparent's farm, northwest of Van Horne, Iowa on Feb 21, 1936 to Emmet and Frances Howe of Vinton, Iowa.Carol attended Vinton public school and graduated with the class of 1954. After graduation, Carol took a job at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Ronald “Ron” Douglas Bossler

Ronald “Ron” Douglas Bossler, 78, of Vinton, died on March 9th, 2024, at his home with his wife of 56 years holding his hand and surrounded by family. Ron was a “tough as nails” man that seemed invincible to his family but ultimately, his death was due to complications from pancreatic cancer, his third cancer after surviving non-Hodgkin lymphoma and prostate cancer.

Helen Louise Kopecky

Helen Louise Kopecky, 91, of The Views of Marion, passed away Tuesday, March 5th, 2024. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, March 14th from 5- 7pm. A private family service will be held at a later date.Helen was born August 31, 1932, in Vinton, Iowa to John and Frieda (Vaupel) Epperson. She went to a one-room country school through 8th grade and graduated from Lincoln High School, Vinton, Iowa in 1950.

Virgil C. Miner

Surrounded by his loving family, Virgil C. Miner, 92, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook, following a lengthy illness.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Vinton, with Father Jim Brokman as Celebrant.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 7:00 p.

Shirley Ruth (Schrenk) Hummel (88), a devoted wife, mother, grand- and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) Vinton, with Rev. David Condry officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.

Delbert Eugene Carolus, 78, of Parkersburg, passed away on March 2, 2024, in Waterloo.Delbert was born on December 16, 1945, to his loving parents, Henry and Julane (Osheim) Carolus. He graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1963 and went on to attend junior college.Delbert then served in the United States Army, bravely surviving the Vietnam War.

Harold O. Ealy Jr.

Harold O. Ealy Jr., 95, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away March 3, 2024.Harold was born January 6, 1929 in Belle Plaine, Iowa to Edna and Harold (Bus) Ealy.  After his mother remarried, Harold was raised by his mother and stepfather, Leslie Brown. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1947. In 1948 Harold enlisted in the US Army.
