UPDATE: CLOSURE OF U.S. 218 IN VINTON NOW BEGINS ON MONDAY, MAY 13

If you drive on U.S. 218 in Vinton you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may impact your trip according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's Cedar Rapids construction office.

---

Beginning on Wednesday, May 1 until early June, weather permitting, crews will close part of U.S. 218 in Vinton so culvert replacement work can take place.

While the roadway is closed and work is taking place, you will follow a marked detour route using Benton County roads E-22 and V-66 and U.S. 218/Iowa 8.

Editor's note: On different tab of the website it says that US Hwy 218 will be closed north of West D Street to 22nd Ave. Trail, the Mt. Auburn road. It is projected to closed "starting May 6, 2024 at 7:00 AM CDT until June 21, 2024 at about 5:00 PM CDT."

TL April 29, 2024, 4:51 pm Can someone post where exactly the highway will be closed?

Editor's note: Their map doesn't show it yet, I would guess because it's not May 1 , I'll post an update if I remember on Wednesday!
TP April 29, 2024, 10:36 pm Thanks!
CS April 30, 2024, 3:56 pm The signs say 5/6 closing

Editor's Note: I know, the news release says, the 1st, the website says both the 1st and 6th...so, "pretty soon?" :)
