Viking football falls to No. 6 Mustangs 20-13
VINTON - The Vinton-Shellsburg Viking varsity team (1-3) took on the sixth-ranked Independence Mustangs (4-0) at the Karr Athletic Complex on Sept. 17, and were defeated 20-13. On the first scoring drive of the game for the Vikings, they had the ball for 18 plays, 74 yards, and a 10:47 time of possession.
Quarterback Kaden Kingsbury completed seven passes in 11 attempts (.636) for 68 yards and ran for 16 yards and a touchdown. Tailback Max Vasquez ran for 89 yards and a touchdown, Benett Rickels caught four balls for 23 yards.
