Ryan Moore scored a late pair of goals and the defense pitched another shutout Monday night as the 2nd-ranked Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings drilled Center Point-Urbana, 5-0 to advance to the Substate soccer finals.

The Vikings (15-0) hit the Stormin' Pointers for a pair of early goals in the first half. David Lapan-Islas knocked one in in the fourth minute and Damon Swenson added another in the fifth minute and the Vikes were quickly up 2-0. It would remain that way at the half before Kale Schulte added a goal in the 47th minute and Moore capped the scoring with goals in the 66th and 70th minutes. Goalkeeper JJ Sloop only needed to make one save on the night and the Vikes were on their way to their first-ever Substate final, 5-0.

The Vikings will play host to Waverly-Shell Rock Wednesday. The Go-Hawks (12-6) are coming off a pair of big wins in the Substate, downing West Delaware 16-0 and Decorah 4-0.

Gametime on the Karr Athletic Complex pitch is set for 7:30 p.m., following the Class 1A Regional quarterfinal game between the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes (10-7) and Center Point-Urbana (8-7), which is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.
