VINTON -- The Vinton-Shellsburg wrestling squad sent it's seniors off in style Thursday night.

The Vikings split a WaMaC double dual meet at the Fieldhouse, downing Maquoketa 42-27, but falling to a strong Mount Vernon squad, 40-33.

The Vikings won four of eight matches against the Cardinals; Brady Ortner (138), senior Bryce Radeke (145), Curtis Erickson (170) and senior Damon Swenson (126) all recorded falls for the Vikes.

Against the Mustangs, Swenson and Erickson picked up their second falls of the night, while Aldin Swanson (106), Carter Lamont (113) and Graham Henkle (120) all recorded pins as well. Ortner also added a 10-3 decision.

Along with Damon Swenson and Bryce Radeke, Vikette wrestlers Carly Williams and Geordyn Webster were honored, along senior manager Alesha Brunssen and cheerleaders Cameryn Stephens, Katherine Seitz, Brianna Thomsen and Evian Yarbrough.
