VSU Girls swimming had a solid victory for their 2nd and final home meet Thursday 10/22. They beat Williamsburg 68 - 26 in the final team standings. The home team took 1st place in all but 1 event, and took 1st and 2nd 6 of the 11 events. The girls swam some very good times, I'm very happy with the way they performed. And doing it for a home crowd was a great way to end our regular season.

Seniors Clarissa Carolan (VS), Bailey Hunt (CPU), Maren Redlinger (VS), Grace Walker (Union) and Geordyn Webster (VS) represented all three school districts that comprise the co-op VSU Girls Swim team. Carolan, Redlinger and Webster each won individual events and also combined to earn top points in relays. Sophomore Justyce Dominick and Junior Lexi Goodell also added individual wins and contributions on winning relays. Junior Carlie Spore hit her season goal of swimming the 500 Freestyle under 7 minutes, touching the wall in 6:55.81 and taking second place only behind her teammate Justyce Dominick.

VSU has 2 weeks off of competition now before swimming in their District Meet at Dubuque Hempstead High School on Saturday November 7. Our home meet was a great showing of where times are at during the peak of our training timeline. We'll start a gradual taper now to let them rest and recover from a lot of demanding practices. We should be in great shape come November 7!
