Wayne Klemmensen passed away at the Keystone Care Center in Keystone, Iowa on July 27, 2026 at the age of 83.

Wayne was born at home in rural Moville, Iowa on March 26, 1943.  His parents were Fred and Edna Klemmensen of Moville.  He was welcomed into this world by two sisters, Shirley and Margaret, and one brother, Daniel.  He was later joined in the family by two other brothers, Earl and Ramon.

Wayne graduated from Moville High School in 1961 and was Salutatorian of his class.  He was active as a center in football and participated in track where he helped his team hold several Class C records.  He followed his brother Daniel to Iowa State University, where he received degrees in Ceramic Engineering and Engineering Operations.  While attending Iowa State, his dorm house had an exchange with a group of nurses in Marshalltown, Iowa.  He met Betty Miller and frequently made the 40-mile trek to see her there.  They were married on November 27, 1964, in Hartwick, Iowa followed by the birth of their twin sons Brian and Bruce in November 1966.  After graduation in 1966, Wayne worked for a glass manufacturer (Owens-Illinois in Toledo, Ohio) for many years and became a glass blast furnace specialist. He acquired his MBA at the University of Toledo in 1972.  His expertise called him to many countries in the world, where he would help design new furnaces as well as consult for repairs for existing facilities.  Wayne never forgot his life on the farm, and in 1995 he followed his dream to become a full-time farmer and bought a farm near Elberon, IA, where he was “his own boss” until retirement in 2020.  

Wayne is survived by his wife, Betty, and their two sons, Brian (Jennifer) and Bruce (Cathy).  Brian and Jennifer’s children are Sarah (Jeremy) Nibert and Aaron (Kelly) Klemmensen.  Bruce and Cathy’s children include Eric, Bradley (Autumn), and Kayla (Devin) Vosefski.  Great-grandchildren include Piper, Charlotte, Everett and Gable.  Preceding him in death were his parents, his sister Shirley, and brothers Daniel and Earl.  He will be missed by all who knew him. 
 
Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, IA.  

Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3rd at Elberon Christian Church, Elberon IA. Burial will take place at a later date.
