Karen Sue Asbe was born March 8, 1946, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Harold Lee and Nettie Mae (Christians) Assink. She graduated from Kanawha High School in 1964. On November 26, 1965, Karen was united in marriage to Gilbert Merle Asbe at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church. She was a beautician in her early years and later worked as a bookkeeper for Charles Capper Ford for almost 25 years. Karen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg and served on the LIS PTL. She enjoyed decorating, collecting tin cans and organizing family pictures. She enjoyed the challenge of doing a job herself regardless of what it was. Karen died surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her home in Williamsburg, at the age of 80 years.

She is survived by her husband Gilbert of Williamsburg; a son Doug (Sara) Asbe of Cedar Rapids; a daughter Angela (Jeff) Holmes of Vinton; grandchildren Tyler (Mallory) Asbe of Grimes, Breanna Bullard of Solon, Hailey Asbe of Cedar Rapids and Sage Holmes of Vinton; two sisters Avis (Jay) Kaemingk of Bellingham, Washington, and Chris (Allen) Lang of Kanawha; two brothers-in-law Russell Straayer and Garry Settles. She was preceded by her parents and two sisters, Arlys Straayer and Carmen Settles.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 am Friday, July 10, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Essence of Life Hospice in Amana.
