Iowa Music Legend Bob Dorr and The Blue 2 + 1 are coming to Garrison! The performance will be on Sunday, July 12, from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Farmers Mercantile Hall, located at 100 W Main Street in Garrison.
Bob Dorr was inducted into the Iowa Rock ‘n’ Roll Music Association Hall of Fame in September 2000, and into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame in 2006 and 2007. As the leader of the Bob Dorr and The Blue Band, Bob is known for his harmonica playing, percussion, and for “his best instrument,” his voice.
The Blue 2 +1 will include three former members of the Blue Band: Bob Dorr, Jeff Petersen, and Mark Linda. Petersen was also inducted into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame and both Dorr and Petersen are DOUBLE inductees of the Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
As stated in a bio provided by Dorr, 2026 marks the 45th year he and Jeff Petersen have been “playing music for a living together, and 36.5 of those years were as original members of the storied Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band, The Blue Band. Being the last of the original group to make music together, they are now known as The Blue 2.”
The duo’s song list comes from the years they spent making music together and includes genres like Blues, Rockabilly, Americana, “even a country song and maybe an old Blue Band song or three!”
Both Dorr and Petersen will sing, and Dorr will be playing the drums and harmonica, with Petersen on guitar, slide guitar, and lap steel. Mark Linda will be on bass and 6-string guitar.
Dorr’s bio also promised “jokes and laughter” as “a mainstay of each performance,” and included an invitation that “jammers are welcome to sit in.”
Admission is $15 for adults and free for children.
Remember to come hungry, as the Garrison Library Board will provide a delicious freewill donation buffet during intermission.
