I have to admit, that this year Christmas has felt pretty non-existent in my world. It hasn't been the merriest of years for sure, at the same time under all the turmoil, our family knows that we have a lot be thankful for.

As I try to write something deep and something that will touch your heart for Christmas, I feel like I've got nothing.

The year has been full of a lot of trying to figure life out, surviving crazy schedules, lawyers, court, ultimately winning, but realizing what you've lost, but appreciating all the things that you've walked away with are all that really matter in life.

We've spent more time talking to our law enforcement, working with them, thanking them profusely for their part in keeping our family safe and realizing how much these dedicated people do for people that they don't know.

Realizing now that there is a whole community that you don't see until you need them and this has been an eye-opener for me. There are people that help people in bad situations every day, it's their "job" and yet they do it so well, it has to be their calling.

Christmas isn't a time of merriment this year for some of us, but a time of reflecting and being thankful that we all made it out in one piece.

For me personally, I realize that all the years of sleepless nights spent praying were preparing me for a year like this. Many nights I spent praying for situations that I thought I knew, but found out later they were much more serious and realizing that God knew that and if I had, I'd never sleep.

But I'm reminded of the sacrifice one Man made for me. I'm reminded that He stepped down from heaven so that we had a way to go there.  He didn't have to, but He did.

That's more of a Christmas present than any of us could ever get or give.

That's all that we really need this Christmas.

Be sure to take a moment tonight at a Christmas Eve service or in the morning at a service to say thanks for the most important Gift of all, Someone that is there with you in every situation, even though you can't see Him, He's always got your back.

For those of you having the merriest and jolliest of Christmases, enjoy, celebrate! That's what it's all about as well!

From my house to yours, may you all find the peace that you need, and blessings like you've never known this next year!

Merry Christmas!
