The garage at the home where Benton County Volunteer Coop director Alberta Reifenstahl used to live before the flood of 2008 will become a pavilion at a new city park along the Cedar River.
AmeriCorps members from the Oak 7 team are doing much of the work. A local family has donated funds for the project as a memorial that will be announced at a later date.
On Tuesday morning, Brenda Hackbarth met with Duane Randall at the site to discuss landscaping and the kinds of flowers to plant there.
Oak 7 members removed siding and interior walls from the garage. Other members of the team dug up flowers along the river bank, which will be replanted after all of the weeds are removed.
