I've always been fascinated with big trucks or large cranes that can lift heavy equipment. Mostly I'm fascinated with semis because my dad drove one. The smell of diesel reminds me of him.

The other day I saw this happening.

A semi driver "dropped" his trailer (dropped means that he unhitched from his cab to park the trailer) in the lot where the city had been storing the winter supply of snow that had been removed from the streets.

Not thinking of the soggy ground below, the trailer legs sunk into the ground, requiring a lift from Coonrod out of Cedar Rapids. It's never good to see Coonrod, it means there's something wrong which requires heavy equipment.

Coonrod was able to lift the trailer while the semi backed under it so that he could hit the road again.
