Since their departure from Vinton, Iowa, Cedar Three has traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to participate in several environmental projects for the Milwaukee County Parks Department and Groundwork Milwaukee. During the spike, Cedar Three members have worked on a variety of different assignments that have benefited the surrounding community.

From the moment they arrive at the Eastern Iowa Airport early in the morning, until they get back in their car to head home, the Honor Flight veterans are accompanied by a large group of volunteers who help make their visit to Washington, D.C. a day to remember forever.
Those volunteers enlist for a variety of reasons, but all of them do so out of respect and gratitude for the veterans they assist.

The Vinton Skate & Activity Center will be closed this coming weekend, April 29- May 1, to host the Vinton-Shellsburg Prom Dance on Saturday. Sponsors and students have been busy decorating this week for the theme, “Midnight Cruise”. There will be a viewing of the building open to the public on Friday, April 29, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.

It started when a guy with a pilot's license decided to fly a couple of friends to see the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C.
Now, the Honor Flight movement is bringing communities together all over the country, and changing the way countless Americans see the memorials of Washington, D.

Organizations encouraged to apply for funds for local projects
The Vinton Community Foundation board members announced today they will be accepting grant applications for the 2011 grant program for tax exempt, non-profit, service oriented groups in Vinton. Application forms are available at Farmers Savings Bank & Trust, 401 B Avenue, Vinton or from foundation board members.

Bill Hammond, a professional level acoustic guitarist, will be entertaining guests and visitors in the Lounge of the Cobblestone Inn from 7-9 p.m. this Friday, April 29.
Hammond, an editor for the Star Tribune in Minneapolis,has played at the Idiot Jam in Vinton each September for the past seven years.

Riverside Park in Vinton and Rodgers Park northeast of Vinton were briefly filled with hundreds of people for the annual Easter Egg Hunt events.
The Vinton Kiwanis Club (and Windsor Manor residents) filled hundreds of eggs and club members placed them at Riverside Park for the event the club has been sponsoring annually for a half century or more on Saturay morning.

Another pause, as the customer (apparently) discusses what he needs, and the equipment problem he is trying to solve.

Handshakes, hugs, applause and "Thank yous" await Vinton veterans Burton Davis, James Peterson, Milton Smith, Jay Bolin and scores of other World War II veterans from Eastern Iowa when they arrive in Washington, D.C. tomorrow.
The four are among 90 or more veterans who will leave at 7 a.m. for the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.
