AmeriCorps NCCC team Cedar 3 is serving with the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities in Stockholm, Hudson, and Amery, Wis. as well as Monticello and Loretto, Minn. working on a variety of projects.
To date, Cedar 3 has visited Camp Pepin in Stockholm, Wis. where they completed a full course of disc golf tee pads and did the yearly maintenance of getting the cabins clean and ready for campers. In Hudson, Wis. at Camp St. Croix the team put in a new fence for a horse pasture and built two new traverse or bouldering walls. They have also done a wide verity of tasks at Camp Icaghowan in Amery, Wis. preparing for the summer campers, ranging from putting up four large wall tents to putting out docks in the lake.
On Saturday, May 11, Cedar 3 did additional service work outside of their NCCC project by assisting another local camp with preparing for summer. At Lutheran Bible Camp Wapo the team moved furniture and redid a drain that had been done incorrectly as well as splitting wood. The sponsor was so impressed he invited the team back the next week and is looking into getting a team for a full round.
On Monday, May 20 the team is traveling from Icaghowan to Camp Manitou then on Wednesday, May 22 to Camp Iduhapi from which they will travel to two day camps and lend a helping hand at all three.
