The East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative (ECI REC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of Scott A.J. McLaughlin as the cooperative’s next Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2027.

Scott has served as an Engineering Technician at ECI REC since 2013. In his current position, he has worked closely with employees throughout the organization on various operational projects and strategic initiatives. Before joining ECI REC, Scott spent eight years as a utility consultant with an engineering firm in Wisconsin.

A Mount Auburn native, Scott earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Studies from Iowa State University and graduated from the Powerline Program at Minnesota West Community and Technical College.

Scott is active in the community, serving and volunteering with several local boards and organizations. He and his wife, Emily, live in rural Vinton with their three children, Jackson, Nolan, and Madison.

Current CEO, Teresa Floyd, has announced she will retire at the end of 2026. Her career began in 1992 as a cost records clerk, working her way to Chief Executive Officer in 2020. Teresa has dedicated more than 34 years of service to the cooperative and its members.

East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative serves nearly 7,400 members across portions of 11 counties. The Cooperative has 33 employees and owns and maintains 2,301 miles of distribution lines.
